Glendhu Nursery School

Glendhu Nursery School is a bright, modern, purpose built single unit nursery school and is situated off the Garnerville Road in East Belfast. The school opened in the early 1970's and offers nursery education on a fulltime basis to the children in the locality. Twenty-six children are admitted to the school each year. The school is open from 8.30 am - 3.30 pm each day. The full-time teaching session is from 9.00 am - 1.30 pm.

The staff consists of a Principal teacher and a Nursery Assistant, both well experienced, a Caretaker/Cleaner and Dining Attendant.

It is the policy of Glendhu Nursery School to share with parents the effort to create a safe, caring environment in which each child, through the varied play activities provided, will be enabled to develop to his/her full potential in every aspect of growth - socially, emotionally, physically and intellectually. Through the carefully structured play situations the children are helped to make their own discoveries, experience success, grow in self-confidence and independence.

The Board of Governors positively supports the work of the staff and meets regularly to discuss all aspects of the school. They help to provide a well maintained and resourced building in which the children can experience all aspects of the Nursery Curriculum.

The support, interest and co-operation of parents are very important aspects of Nursery life, not only helping with fund-raising events and the frequent nursery school outings, but also for the sharing and exchange of learning opportunities which have taken place in home and school.

Prospective parents who wish to visit the school or seek advice on admission may do so by telephoning the Principal before 9.00 am or after 2.00 pm each day.
