EastSide Learning has been supporting learning throughout the school year. This includes supporting training for school staff, providing extra support for pupils for GCSE and literacy, and helping parents get more involved in their childrens schools. But our work doesn't stop when schools break up for summer.
We have worked alongside local community groups to keep children entertained and engaged with their learning throughout the summer. We have also involved their families where we can, so that families can enjoy learning together in beautiful environments both indoor and outdoor. We've learnt about ecosystems at Castle Espie, the natural world at Slieve Gullion, history at Ulster Museum and water worlds at Straid Fishery. We have hosted children on STEM summer camps learning about sustainability, energy and mechanics, or on Code Camps learning to make games, websites and more! We have also brought learning directly to the communities with centre-based workshops focused on supporting the environment.
With these free, accessible learning visits we aim to address the gap in learning that can occur during the lengthy summer break, while also helping families to enjoy learning together, sharing experiences they will remember forever.
